Chew Court, Chew Magna
Our remit was to reimagine two rooms into an opulent couple’s dressing room with an en-suite bathroom. Set in a 14th century manor house on the outskirts of Bristol, it was essential that we captured the historic setting of the house and that this was reflected in the design. It was important to the client that each item had its own place and so everything was measured and accounted for down to the smallest detail and most precious item of jewellery.
By the project’s very nature, it required custom-made furniture. Working together with specialist joinery company Beauford Bespoke, we designed the furniture so that it echoed the Tudor feel of the rest of the house. A deep walnut finish to the wood was contrasted by aged brass fittings and we backlit the storage so that each item could be easily located and added mirrors to reflect light back into the space. We added a solid stone top to the central dressing table to add depth and luxury.
The bathroom was created with a clean design utilising large tiles to create a seamless finish. A floating basin unit gave the feeling of space while a large bath added to the luxury.
