Private Residence, Bristol
This project saw a full renovation of a 1960s detached house on the outskirts of Bristol. Accessed via a private country road and set deep within the surrounding woodland, the client brief was for a functional and ergonomic design that would be uncomplicated and easy to live with, while adding character to existing building. The original footprint remained, as it gave us solid walls and concrete floors to work with. Our approach was one of understated opulence; this was achieved by using natural materials and fabrics such as leather and textured wallpaper. We intentionally kept the colour palette dark, adding luxurious hues of deep orange and the darkest blues, making a conscious decision to juxtapose dark rooms against contrasting light ones.
The result was a mixture of masculine shapes and accent colours. Statement, bespoke furniture was placed with intention, with the inside of light fittings coloured gold to create a subtle, yet luxurious downlight to create evocative shadows.
