Headland House, Pentire
Pentire, is an exceptional end-of-terrace property with breathtaking views across Fistral beach and beyond. We were commissioned by the owners to refresh and rejuvenate the design to reflect its closeness to the ocean. Designed with a young family in mind, we opted for a fun, comfortable, and relaxed interior. The aim of the owners was to create an escape from the hustle and bustle of London life; a space that would not only be their second home but also a desirable rental for a vibrant younger crowd looking for a surfy family bolthole.
The crown jewel of this home is its amazing roof terrace, boasting a 180-degree panorama of the sea as well as views across the poppy fields at Crantock. This was an important space, featuring its own kitchenette, and so we turned it into a chic bar area—perfect for indulging in sundowners as Fistral is famous for its incredible sunsets, or simply relaxing to the sounds of the surf below.
We took inspiration for the colour palette at Pentire not only from the sea, but also from the area’s mining history, hence the use of deep blue and aquamarine contrasting with rich rust reds. It was important as a luxury holiday rental, that furniture was super-comfortable so we added a deep orange sink-into sofa from Love Your Home, along with mid-century modern inspired chairs positioned to make the most of the view.
The property has three bedrooms, with the smallest one transformed into a delightful bunk room, making the most of the limited space. Fun wallpaper and funky furnishings were added to ensure the children’s room wasn’t an overlooked space and had the same wow-factor as the rest of the house.
